Stacy Lawrence, M.Ed., LPC, NCC

I believe in the mind-body connection and have found mindfulness skills to be transformative for a large variety of issues. I often include mindfulness skills such as diaphragmatic breathing, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and mindful eating in therapy sessions as appropriate for the client.

I specialize in helping clients cope with diabetes and have also worked with people who have had other medical diagnoses and a variety of other areas.

After graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University, I earned a Masters Degree in Human Development Counseling from Vanderbilt University. I am licensed in South Carolina and am a National Certified Counselor.

I have experience working with clients with diabetes from both the Adult and Pediatric Endocrinology Clinics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. I have worked with clients to increase their medication compliance, change their life styles to increase exercise and healthy eating habits, increase coping for stressors related to living with diabetes, and for other mental health issues that may indirectly affect diabetes (for example: outside stressors, a lack of desire for self care, feelings of low self worth, etc.). I also have experience working with adolescents with diabetes who act out behaviorally.
